We are big fans of Erdem’s kaleidoscopic prints and contemporary silhouettes, so when he approached us to design his dinner and party during fashion week we were thrilled.
I particularly love projects like this, it’s such an enjoyable collaborative process working with a talented designer , translating their aesthetic and chanelling it effectively into a dinner and party setting.
We decided to do a Tim Walkeresque Balloon moment with Jewel coloured balloons tumbling out of the windows of Mortons, twisting around the building and bursting from the balcony.

Thousands of Monochrome Marbled balloons snaked up the stairway. It reminds us of an Erdem print

For the dinner setting we raided Erdem’s studio ( kind of) We decided to utilise the Fabric that Erdem had designed exclusively for Matches and bring it to the table…. literally; we made ribbons from the fabric ,threaded bespoke engraved Brass discs to make the chicest napkin ring that then adorned the Wrists of the guests. We had balloons floating above each chair fastened with silk strips of the exclusive print.
Erdem’s fashion illustrations are beautiful , what nicer element to bring to the table than hand drawn girls from the spring/Summer collection carrying each Guest’s placement?
Hundreds of brightly coloured Dahlias and zinnia’s pranced down the centre of the table akin to a floral print come to life
Xavior played Lady Gaga on the babygrand . Afterwards everyone drank erdetini’s as the Sunday Girl, Tallulah Ormsby Gore and the Queen’s of Noise DJ’d . A wonderful whimsical party suitably celebrating a unique talent.
Lovely coverage on the Vogue website: ‘Erdem dines with Matches‘ article written by Dolly Jones and ‘5,000 Luftballoons‘ by Mark Holgate
