We are big fans of Erdem’s kaleidoscopic prints and contemporary silhouettes, so when he approached us to design his dinner and party during fashion week we were thrilled.
I particularly love projects like this, it’s such an enjoyable collaborative process working with a talented designer , translating their aesthetic and chanelling it effectively into a dinner and party setting.
We decided to do a Tim Walkeresque Balloon moment with Jewel coloured balloons tumbling out of the windows of Mortons, twisting around the building and bursting from the balcony.

Thousands of Monochrome Marbled balloons snaked up the stairway. It reminds us of an Erdem print

For the dinner setting we raided Erdem’s studio ( kind of) We decided to utilise the Fabric that Erdem had designed exclusively for Matches and bring it to the table…. literally; we made ribbons from the fabric ,threaded bespoke engraved Brass discs to make the chicest napkin ring that then adorned the Wrists of the guests. We had balloons floating above each chair fastened with silk strips of the exclusive print.
Erdem’s fashion illustrations are beautiful , what nicer element to bring to the table than hand drawn girls from the spring/Summer collection carrying each Guest’s placement?
Hundreds of brightly coloured Dahlias and zinnia’s pranced down the centre of the table akin to a floral print come to life
Xavior played Lady Gaga on the babygrand . Afterwards everyone drank erdetini’s as the Sunday Girl, Tallulah Ormsby Gore and the Queen’s of Noise DJ’d . A wonderful whimsical party suitably celebrating a unique talent.
Lovely coverage on the Vogue website: ‘Erdem dines with Matches‘ article written by Dolly Jones and ‘5,000 Luftballoons‘ by Mark Holgate

We’ve developed a thing for playing with paper recently. It’s nice that something so practical and utilitarian can, when artfully crafted, pleated, folded and manipulated becomes something quite spectacularly sculptural. For the Pandora Press day in the Mandarin Oriental last week we decked the ballroom with thousands and thousands of paper flowers. We have yet to calculate how many hours went into creating these but it was many…many…hundreds. Paper worker elves mushroomed and multiplied in our studio, intricately folding and finessing over Frappucinos. Thank you to Anna and all our paper helpers who held the paper forte while some of us wafted around The Secret Garden Party and Port Eliot. When Vogue Blogs it. It’s worth it.
In a very glamorous act of paper recycling we are re-using each and every paper flower at Pandora’s next event in Monaco. Sure beats the recycling bin….

Jessica McCormack’s jewelry is something I have lusted after for quite some time. My friend Sophie stocks a selection in her store, The Merchant Archive and I love nothing more than playing dress up with some of her gorgeous bespoke pieces. Her jewelry is delicate but strong, the perfect combination of avant garde with old world glamour . Jesicca’s Salon in Clerkenwell is equally gorgeous, behind big black wooden doors lurks the most exquisite Salon /workshop/studio that I have been to in London …… and she has a swing, a fully operational working swing by her desk. Perfect.
We were thrilled to design Jesicca’s press day for her new fine jewelry collection, The Seven deadly sins and the seven contrary virtues . The Clerkenwell kitchen made delicious black and white food to reflect the darkness & lightness aspect and we did what we love to do best . We played with beautiful things….

Love this Diamond Bow ring.

and this one . The more Diamond heavy Bow ring which is my favourite ring in the universe .

The armed magnifying glasses worked beautifully at magnifying the jewels

We had the Blackest Rook we could find come to symbolize the darkness of the sins

These feathered earrings symbolize sloth …. feathers being sleepy, lazy and bed like.

A bevy of vintage black ceramic swans held bespoke Jessica McCormack cakepops from Pop Bakery.

Parties, Parties, Parties. Hands up I admit it, working as I do in events and having attended my fair share of parties when I’m not working……I can and have been a little Party jaded of late.
My faith was restored last night at the Louis Vuitton Bond street store opening party. High Octane on every level. From Donna Summer singing “I feel love” with Marc Jacobs as her very own backing singer (yes he was) to the mesmerizing Punch Drunk experiences in a myriad of hidden rooms. This party was refreshing in that amongst the Luxury goods Event staples of beautiful aesthetics and beautiful people It was a truly unforgettable experience. There was so much thought and Imagination put into the tiniest details it all felt very personal and intimate . We laughed and giggled our way around the rooms in the way one does at a relaxed dinner party. Very much like a journey, we went from walking through a Pine forest (admiring the smell of freshly trodden pine needles underfoot) and ending up in a yurt reading my very own tightly rolled message in a bottle. Ah. The message in a bottle, now that did please me enormously. It’s the little things amongst all the big things that make all the difference.
More messages in bottles please. More parties like this please. We need them in our Universe.

Incredible flowers in individual copper tubes by Absolute Flowers. Adore

Love the filament bulbs suspended from the ceiling and hanging amongst the flowers

One of the experience rooms. Everything was studded. EVERYTHING. Oh my! The giraffe from the window needs to hang out here with his studded hooves

Studded table and books. Stud my world. Please do.

A make believe old fashioned LV shop front

A charming speakeasy that was found hidden away in a room amongst trunks and boxes. The Barman fixed me a “surprise” drink and it was a surprise. It contained my favourite Hix Morello cherries. How could he have known?

Another lovely moment

A room that was a four sided cabinet of curiosities

Curiouser and curiouser

The forest and the yurt. There was a rickshaw too but alas my camera battery died…
