All the fun of the fair – Harvey Nichols Vogue Fashion’s Night Out

In light of the huge success of last year’s Harvey Nichols Fashion’s Night Out concept – Harvey Nichols Haberdashery, we decided to put the designers to work again this year, customising unique, one-off t-shirts by creating the “Harvey Nichols Fashion Fairground” complete with Designers Stalls, Victorian-style ice cream man and jam jar bar!

A fashion all-star cast comprised of Markus Lupfer, Jonathan Saunders, Roksanda Illincic, JW Anderson, Peter Pilotto, Christopher Raeburn, Emma Cook, Marios Schwab and Louise Gray spent the evening adding their signature style to Vogue Fashion’s Night Out t-shirts, much to the delight of the ever growing crowd. A huge thank you everyone for being involved especially the designers for being so good natured and crafty under pressure.

Lucy In Disguise

We have been guilty of neglecting our blog recently. Flattered though that it’s been missed and that we’ve had irate emails demanding more regular updates.

Phew! We recently worked with the lovely Lucy in Disguise sisters, Lily Allen and Sarah Owen to throw a suitably summery party to celebrate their new collection being launched in Harvey Nichols. Inspired by their collection, which has hints of Americana, we decided to do a party channeling Coney Island meets Neon Graveyard.

On a recent trip to Venice beach in LA I spent way too long having fun posing with the seaside Pier Boards (the low-fi photo booth.) We decided to use these as the main backdrop and as an illustration of the new Lucy in Disguise designs. We had gold leaf hot dogs, macaroni cheese and burgers served in Pink Cadillacs. Doesn’t everything taste better in a Pink Cadillac? Lashings of delicious home made ice cream from Yee Kwan for dessert and our Coney Island Canape set was complete.

Another great Sister set “The Broken Hearts” DJ’d in their nautical, but nice (wink wink) Lucy in Disguise Romper suits. Love these Girls. Not only do they look amazing, they sound amazing too. Check out their new radio show here.

Fun Fun Fun coupled with the killer 5th floor margaritas, it almost felt like being on holiday again…

Adore this Ice Cream Cone from Circus Antiques. We all need one of these don’t we?

Patron Silver Reindeer The “Bauble Bar”

It’s been a wonderful year full of exciting and challenging projects. Our last project of the year is the Patron Tequila Silver Reindeer Bar in Harvey Nichols. We dreamed up a grotto made from thousands and thousands of silver baubles. Clusters of different sized shiny round baubles spilling from the walls. A Bauble “Avalanche” of sorts. There is something so beautifully sculptural when you group round objects of different sizes and with different finishes from super high shiny to completely matte.

It was a perfect project for Fiona Leahy Design. We are after all quite vociferous in our love of tequila and Patron tequila is (without sounding like an infomercial) truly exquisite. A luxury tequila that tastes wonderful and looks wonderful too. The bottles are hand blown glass that once inevitably drained I like to use as vases.

The Patron Silver Reindeer Tequila Bar is serving complimentary cocktails until December 23rd. Wishing you a shiny and bauble filled festive season from all of us at Fiona Leahy Design. CHEERS!!

Lulu & Co “MidasDiscoMexicana”

We have a bit of a leaning towards all things Mexican. My favourite drink in the entire universe is a well made margarita on the rocks with chilli salted rim (we have employed bartenders for post work drinks in my garden to make just that) and we have frequent moments in the studio when I decide we all need to make pinatas…some people have Ping Pong breaks we have pinata breaks (I know)

Complete unfettered joy then when we met with the luminous Lulu Kennedy and the boys from Bistrotheque to plan Lulu’s party at Harvey Nichols for the launch of her new label Lulu & Co. A collaborative collection between Lulu and ten of of the designers whose work she has showcased during the ten years of Fashion East. Jonathan Saunders, Gareth Pugh, House of Jazz are just a few of the designers that comprise the Limited Edition collection. Gorgeousness, away from the dresses…I do digress back to the Party.

Lulu loves Mexico too, how amazing and fitting then to do a fabulous Mexico disco but a sexier, slicker and more polished version with a touch of gilded 70s glamour. No Mariachis (though we do LOVE a mariachi band) we went more high octane, lot’s of gold, shine a dash of glitter and some hand painted signage and corrugated metal just to keep it well…grounded.

Bistrotheque became “Bistrotaco” for the evening with the tastiest Mexican food we have savoured in London and of course killer Margaritas! The Tequila was supplied by Cleo Rocos’s Don Alvaro & Alma Mia Tequilas (yes Cleo Rocos has a tequila, yes it tastes fabulous, and yes imagine being Cleo Rocos AND having your own tequila )

Hibiscus Margaritas, Heart Shaped Churros (courtesy of Milli’s Catering) on the palm fringed terrace, DJ sets from Henry Holland, Hazel Robinson, Princess Julia et al…pretty much magicked up the perfect upbeat party, so fun. We wish we could do it all over again…
